Delinquent Tax Sale Information & Provisions

The Teton County Treasurer annual delinquent tax sale is generally held during the first two weeks of August.                       

For the 2022 tax year, the sale was Wednesday, August 2, 2023.  There were 7 parcels and 79 participants.  Thanks to all who participated.  All parcels were sold at the sale.  

For the 2023 tax year, the sale will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

For a period of three consecutive weeks, four weeks prior to the sale, properties to be sold are published in the county legal newspaper:

Pre-Registration

You must be pre-registered to attend the tax sale - There will be no registration the morning of tax sale. Pre-registration will take place on Monday, August 5, 2024 and Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the County Treasurer Office in the County Admin Building, 200 South Willow St, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Each pre-registered participant will receive an assigned number. You must have this number to enter the 4-H Extension Office Building on the morning of the Tax Sale - no exceptions.

The tax sale will begin promptly at 9 a.m., late arrivals will not be entitled to take part.

The name on the pre-registration form must be the same name under which payment will be made. The purchaser at a tax sale receives a certificate of purchase, not title to the real property identified.

Only individuals who are pre-registered and present may participate, neither representatives nor anyone under the age of 18, are allowed. Each pre-registered purchaser will be assigned a number. The numbers shall be randomly drawn using a computer software program. The person will then be permitted to complete the purchase of the tax lien for the parcel according to law.

Any real property which cannot be sold for the amount of taxes, interest, penalties and costs shall be bid in for the County by the County Treasurer.

Payments

Only cash, bank checks or Discover/Novus, American Express, Master Card or Visa credit cards accepted; all credit card payments are subject to an additional convenience fee.

No realty companies, company names, or corporate names will be accepted on checks or credit cards.
